Burning Ambition

Liberal Democrat Leadership candidate Nick Clegg passed through Reading yesterday and invited the Reading Evening Post on board the First Great Western 125 for an exclusive interview as the train travelled between Reading and Swindon.

However, the Post's political reporter declined the offer as she didn't have a spare four hours to allow for the train being late and breaking down at Didcot, having to conduct the interview in the vestibule area because of overcrowding and her expense account would not cover the extortionate cost of a cheese sandwich and a cup of tea from the buffet car.
