Businesses and organisations in Reading will be hoping to batter the opposition during the town's annual charity pancake race, risk assessment permitting. On Tuesday, February 5, Broad Street will be transformed when teams of four put their pancake tossing prowess to the test.

The competitors will race along Broad Street, tossing pancakes as they go, all in the name of charity. Proceeds to this year's race will be going to the Royal Berkshire Hospital agency nurse fund.

The Renaissance Reading Hotel will be providing the vital ingredient - free PR - and the winning team will get their hands on The Oracle shield. The Mayor of Reading, Councillor Chris Maskell, will be at the finish line to get his hands on the winner's pancakes.
